Mike Leigh has already arrived in Uherského Hradiště and is staying until Friday evening. Leigh will be awarded with the ACFC Annual Prize. During his stay, he is going to introduce eight of his films and three of his most favourite ones, including Forman’s Loves of a Blonde. “That film inspired all filmmakers of that time, not just me or Ken Loach,” said Leigh at a press conference and remembered how he acted as an extra in Forman’s Ragtime.

One of the films that were followed by a long, heated discussion was Naked, a tragicomedy with David Thewlis that made Leigh famous in 1993. “I wanted to take a look at unacceptable behaviour of a man and I was curious about how the things would be in a new Millennium or whether the world was going to end in 1999,” said the director about his motivations.
