George Voskovec’s career is relatively well known and mapped in detail. However, little is known about his life after his post-war emigration. What happened to him after his second arrival to America? Why did he end up in an internment camp in Ellis Island and spent there almost 11 months? Can his role of the 11th member of jury in Lumet’s Twelve Angry Men be considered the height of his career overseas? We will try to answer all these questions. George Voskovec definitely wasn’t a one-role actor. He played in tens of films, made a “guest appearance” in a number of TV series and performed at New York theatre stages. His family background will be described in Libuše Rudínská’s documentary My Father George Voskovec.
